Yeah I saw this other blog ages ago (that I’ve tired to find several times) in which a women mailed random stuff to her illustration teacher in London. Included a letter made out of human hair and a row of colored pencils glued together to make a random postcard. Very strange and infinitely interesting.
Hahahaha I like the little ‘fragile’ symbol you drew on it.
A friend in the UK didn’t have enough money to mail a letter so he just addressed it to himself and put the sender as the person he actually wanted to send it to. Obviously when they returned to ‘sender’ his mail arrived where it needed to go at no charge.
Isn’t there that thing that you can sign up to where you send random mail back and forth? I’ll have to figure out exact details…
Eric Ericson has done some other pretty interesting stuff. I first heard about him a few years back when he did another mail related project, writing letters to different companies and government agencies, suggesting, asking and debating all kinds of bizarre stuff. Won’t make much sense explaining, so check out this link http://www.brevtillutlandet.se/btu.html and click on “Provläs boken” and you’ll get a few examples. Pretty funny.
I mailed one on the weekend. If it works I might start upping the stakes.

Sweet baby Jesus I can’t believe it actually arrived.
I had an idea like this in my advertising portfolio a while back. It was for the Drugs & Alcohol government body and the idea was to get people to “Post-A-Coaster” to themselves from whatever drinking establishment they were in at the time (the coasters would be postage-paid). The idea being that when the person received the coaster, they’d realise how drunk and disorderly they must’ve been at the time of posting it, and hopefully relax on the alcohol next time they were out drinking.
This is hilarious KP! Although I’m still waiting for mine to arrive

That’s very cool, it’s like the Swedish artist Eric Ericson who sent random things through the mail addressed ‘To Mr Cheng’ to see what strange things he can get away with sending through the post – no boxes or anything, just a good old stamp whacked onto the said item. Pretty cool. Check it out here [http://www.to-mr-cheng.com/]
